About to Harman Ice
Harman Ice is a family owned ice
production and distribution company headquartered in Johnson City, TN. Harman
Ice has become the largest ice producer and supplier in east Tennessee and
southwest Virginia because we understand our customers’ needs and have invested
in the latest, most up-to-date technology. We produce more ice – and keep more
ice in inventory – than any other firm in the region.
Our strategically located
facilities help us meet demand faster than any other firm in the region.
Our Johnson City location services the Tri-Cities area while our Knoxville
office services the Knoxville, Maryville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and
Morristown region.
The state-of-the-art ice-making
machines at Harman Ice manufacture 250 tons of ice each day and produce over
50,000 seven-pound packages in an eight-hour period. Our storage facility holds
750,000 seven-pound packages, which means Harman customers never run short of
ice.
Product Purity is always the
number one concern at Harman Ice. Ice-making and packaging machines are fully
automated, which insures that human hands never touch the ice. Water used in
the production process is purified by using ultraviolet light that eliminates
99% of any bacteria present. As a member of the International Packaged Ice
Association (IPIA) and the Southern Ice Exchange, the water is tested by a
certified analytical lab each month.
Harman Ice customers include such
leading retailers as WalMart Supercenters, Sam’s Club, Kroger’s, and Ingle’s
Supermarkets. In addition, we provide over-the-dock sales to wholesale
customers as far away as New York and Canada.
Harman Ice also supplies ice for
special events such as NASCAR races, fairs, and concerts. We have even supplied
ice to Yankee Stadium for a New York Yankees game and the Orange Bowl in Miami.
Harman Ice is also an approved vendor for FEMA supplying large quantities of
packaged ice to citizens in disaster areas.
You can depend on Harman Ice for
ice that is pure, packaged right, and delivered on time. Harman Ice is
delivered by a fleet of 20 modern refrigerated trucks and our courteous route
persons take pride in never letting a customer’s ice supply run out. Display
machines are kept clean and in good repair and damaged or outdated machines are
replaced promptly to guarantee a fresh, clean ice supply.
In addition, a computerized system
provides accurate, up-to-date scheduling and billing. This proactive measure
further insures Harman customers a constant, reliable supply of
ice.
Harman Ice is also a commercial
cold storage facility, providing a refrigerated warehouse for such clients as
ConAgra, Mid-Mountain Foods, The IJ Company, and Sara Lee.
From the early days, when ice was
delivered door to door by horse and wagon, through the introduction of crushed
ice machines in the 1950’s, to today’s sophisticated fragmented ice-making
machines, Harman Ice has been the region’s industry leader for nearly a
century.
